Thought and Thesis

At times it becomes necessary to state what I'm thinking at the moment. Not all these thoughts need a full blog. With that in mind I decided, much to my chagrin, that I should get a Twitter account, so I did. So today I decided to run a Goggle search for barefoot running just to see what came up. And much to my surprise this site came up: http://www.runningbarefootisbad.com/ The person who writes the blog is clearly someone who does not like barefoot running, or even the idea of it, at all. While I have not read through all of the post, the author has a major vendetta against all these related to barefoot running. One of the author biggest complaints is that there is completely no evidence for the claims that barefoot make for the positive aspects of running barefoot. This is very funny to me since you can go to your local book store and find all kinds of magazines and books that have those very studies in them. But this is clearly been over looked by the author, most likely to insure that his/her agenda is fulfilled. This can be seen by the fact that one is not able to comment on any of the blogs posts. Among the many things that I enjoy, which include philosophy and sociological theory, I also am a very big nerd. Well, not as big as some, I do in fact have a girlfriend, which will soon be much more then that. But thats not what I'm here to talk about, nerdiness is the topic and roleplaying is the game. As part of that game have begun, well many years ago, building my own campaign world. It was adopted from a world that a few friends and I worked on in high school. Recently I've decided that to make the world a whole lot more rich that I would start writing poetry for it. Things have gone pretty good and it also seems to add a fun flare to the games as well. For fun I've decided to share them with the world. I have spent a good amount of time on these so I'd like it if no one stole them, thanks! With that said then, here is one I just finished. Finally my semester and school year is over with. Finished the last of my papers this morning and mailed it off to the prof. Now all I have to do is find a job. Hmmm... easier said then done it think.

In the Genealogy of Morality, Nietzshe talks on punishment in the past as being something that made the people feel good, how it brought them joy to see. This seems to be the case even today. All be it the system is different; we no longer draw and quarter, or boil people in oil, the judicial system does seem to have the same function as those systems of old. That is to make people feel better. This function also seems to work in a way in which it maintains peoples trust in what they, at least perceive as being an ordered society. Without the punishment people may come to think that anything could be done to themselves or their property, in a sense to their very sovereign nature, without having some kind of recourse toward that action. Plainly: the use of punishment, or in the modern era, the judicial system, makes people feel better about things. There are two weeks left in the semester and stress is abound. It's that time of year were everything piles up and all you can do is hope for the best. On a positive note, the pile is as big as it's going to get, so now I all I have to do is try and get to the bottom. Fingers crossed. So today I decided that I was in need to get out of town and into the mountains for a little bit. The weather has been nice and I've been planning on doing something like this for about a week or so but just didn't have the time to do it. For that matter I've been trying to get out into the mountains from months now, like since the summer, but through all fault of my own I never made the time. Shame on me. So with this intention in mind I finally did what I've been meaning to do for a while. I packed up myself, a few books to read, my Fivefinger, which wasn't all that hard to pack since they were already on my feet, and headed east of town. After traveling along Happy Jack Road for a while and only finding still snowed in areas I finally found a nice road to drive down in the Pole Mountain area turn off.
